The quaint seaside town of Southport is on the popular South Coast of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The little town with its secluded, picturesque beach is between Port Shepstone (17 Minutes, 11 km’s away) away and Anerley. As it is close to Umtentweni and the N2 off ramp is easily accessible when traveling from Durban which is only an hour and 15 minutes away (110km).
The Blue Flag Beach with its rock pools and a tidal pool has sharks nets and life guards on duty to keep you safe. A favorite beach with the locals who love spending the day splashing in the sea and basking in the sun, it has two parking areas and is wheel chair friendly.
A popular fishing destination with a wide variety of fish species caught throughout the year, Southport is a lovely escape for the whole family.
If you feel the need to shop or eat out there are shops, pubs and restaurants along the coastal road such as Captain Anchor’s restaurant, Sayidi Coffee Shop & Farm Stall and Jaxx Restaurant. If you want more than the local shops have on offer you can nip down to Port Shepstone or Shelly Beach which both have malls such as The “Shelly Centre” and “Southcoast Mall” which offer a range of shopping outlets and movie houses should you choose to stray away from the beach.
